My Review:

I absolutely love the way that Woods writes. It’s real and natural without becoming sloppy or lazy. It is the perfect balance that allows the reader to immerse themselves in the story and really get to know the characters. Woods is very visually descriptive while still allowing you to use your imagination. She does all this while crafting an intricate and captivating tale that will take you out of this world.

The flashbacks that we see in this story make the whole thing seem so much more real. As do the journal entries. Both of these elements draw you fully into the main character’s psyche, allowing you to know her intimately. It really allows you to connect with and understand her. The rest of the characters are also quite intricately developed. Even though we’ve gotten to know them in previous novels, we still learn new elements of their characters that allow us a much closer bond with them. And you do bond with Woods’ characters, rather than simply meet them.

Overall, this was a brilliant ending to the series (that really does need to be read in order). That said, I’m so sad to see this series end. I’d love to continue journeying with the various characters and spend more time on Daysiine. I’m definitely hoping for more from this intriguingly talented author.

Captivated in the battle between love and betrayal Chloe faces new obstacles and the undulating force of a gilded promise.

This New Adult book is intended for readers over the age of 18 due to adult language, sexual content and adult situations.

My Review:

This novel is just as action packed as its predecessors, but it is also a much more emotional tale. Woods mixes the past with the present to create this phenomenally creative and uniquely catching tale. She also blends the supernatural into this world in a plausible manner that you can’t help but picture happening right next door to you. Woods’ descriptions are so sharp and crisp that they really pop, giving you a 3D image of what’s going on with and around her characters. The well written and approachable tale really kept my attention throughout. Even when I had to put the book down for a moment (which was next to impossible to do) I couldn’t think of anything else.

I love how full of life this series is, even with the small cast. Woods keeps everything flowing with her phenomenally developed characters. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Chloe’s side of things. She really comes into her own with this one. Also, by showing her experiences during events we’ve previously encountered as flashbacks we get deeper into her character. She is such a personable character that she really draws you into this fantastic tale. Know her so much better throughout this instalment. It was also quite fascinating to see the cracks in Chloe’s armour. I was also very glad to find out more about Tommy’s history and link with Drex. It brought a lot of things to light in a clear manner while making Tommy much more approachable as a person. I did, however, always have a nagging thought in the back of my mind. I was always wondering what was going on with or really happened to Drex. Cole does stay towards the forefront of the tale with her journal entries to/about Drex and her dreams while at the same time taking a more background role throughout the story proper. Cole’s dreams hinted at some things I found myself hoping for & with a few revelations at the end of this one I find myself dying for the next story in the series.

My Review:

The second instalment in this series is very emotional and vividly real with lots of intriguingly suspenseful undercurrents. This novel also had some really cute and real moments mixed amongst the action and adventure. Woods also had me laughing so hard at times that I had tears in my eyes. There were also some very emotional moments that left me with another kind of tears in my eyes. This story is well put together. The story has a brilliant flow, keeping you captivated throughout. Its action packed, with action that comes from more than just battle scenes. Woods gives just enough background information to jog your memory on the key players in the series and on the events of the previous novel without doing a full recap. She also leaves the novel with a sense of finality, but one that may not be final. You can see one ending and you hope for a new beginning.

In this instalment in the series you get an in depth look at Drex’s past in a manner that puts a great deal of things in context. Drex’s past adds an extra layer of complexity to the events in the present, as does getting to know Cole’s family history. It’s very revealing and intriguing. We also get to know some of the supporting cast much better. They become more than just background characters, but rather major players in the lives of the main cast.

Overall this was a brilliant addition to the series. It left me feeling shattered but with a glimmer of hope. I can’t wait to read the next instalment.

Adult-content rating: This book contains content considered unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.

My Review:

This is an author who doesn’t pull her punches with her subject matter. She combines the paranormal with everyday tragedy and catastrophe to create a sublime mix that you won’t be able to walk away from. Even when I did put it down I couldn’t stop thinking about it. This story sparked both my interest and my imagination. I was so wrapped up in this story that it became my reality. Raw emotions shine through the story and tug at you. The story was fluidly written, even if there were a few trip ups in editing (nothing to detract from the story itself). I was completely enthralled throughout.

The characters in this novel were wildly imaginative as well. Woods’ subtle character development allows you to get to know everyone intimately while being caught up in the fast acting (and rather hot) plot of the story. This goes for the supporting cast and main characters alike. And not only does she develop the characters personalities and personas, but she develops entire races and species. It is a unique experience that I would recommend to all.

Overall, the plot and storytelling were phenomenal. The characters were out of this world and worthy of the best. Am I hooked? Hells yes! Will I be continuing the series? You bet! Will I read more by this author outside the series? Without a doubt!
