Synopsis from Goodreads:
After a year of perishing in a desolating inferno, Cole Evans is surprised when her senses develop an intrigue for the savagely mysterious Dash.
Determined to uncover the secrets hidden in the dark depths of his entrancing eyes, Cole finds herself torn between guilt and temptation.
Her wandering soul fights relentlessly for answers only to find the darkest one of all followed by a series of extraordinary events. Unraveling with devastating and profound realities at the heart of danger, Cole’s fate is illuminated by an altering course where fears and dreams, loss and love converge into a symphony of spectacular - infinitely gilded.
The flashbacks that we see in this story make the whole thing seem so much more real. As do the journal entries. Both of these elements draw you fully into the main character’s psyche, allowing you to know her intimately. It really allows you to connect with and understand her. The rest of the characters are also quite intricately developed. Even though we’ve gotten to know them in previous novels, we still learn new elements of their characters that allow us a much closer bond with them. And you do bond with Woods’ characters, rather than simply meet them.
Overall, this was a brilliant ending to the series (that really does need to be read in order). That said, I’m so sad to see this series end. I’d love to continue journeying with the various characters and spend more time on Daysiine. I’m definitely hoping for more from this intriguingly talented author.
