My Review:
This novel is fundamentally soul shattering. It is also provocatively written. Lane draws you in through her intensely captivating writing style and keeps you there were her hard hitting and emotional story. This author makes it easy to immerse yourself in the story and feel for the characters while at the same time understanding every angle of the story. It was a unique trip.
I loved the in depth characters with serious backgrounds. The main characters both had some very hard knocks in life that may have put others out of the running for a fulfilling life, yet these characters worked through it in their own way. At the same time, there was nothing at all unbelievable in their stories, simply hard to swallow at times for its realism. The supporting cast also really added to this story. They not only served to back up the main characters and to highlight their personality quirks but they really rounded out the story nicely.
As a whole this was a brilliant way to immerse myself in Lane’s writing for the first time. Not only would I easily recommend it to others but it has sparked an interest in other works of hers.
