Synopsis from Goodreads:

The tougher they are, the harder they fall…

Professional mercenary Dare Macintosh lives by one hard and fast rule: business should never be personal. If a cause appeals to him and the price is right, he'll take the mission he's offered. But then the lovely Molly Alexander asks him to help her track down the men who'd had her kidnapped—and for the first time, Dare's tempted to combine work with pleasure.

Fiercely independent, Molly vows to trust no one until she's uncovered the truth. Could the enemy be her powerful, estranged father? The ex-fiancé who still holds a grudge? Or the not-so-shy fan of her bestselling novels? As the danger heats up around them, the only anchor Molly has is Dare himself. But what she feels for him just might be the most frightening thing of all…

My Review:

This is definitely one of those captivating novels that can be read as a stand-alone or as part of a series. Foster ensures that the entire story takes place between the covers, but yet she creates a world so wonderful (even if it is dangerous) that you’ll gladly continue on to the next in the series.

This novel is so suspenseful with plot twists galore that it keeps you on the edge of your seat while the explosive romance keeps you riveted. Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s a romance so the main characters obviously get together but it’s the journey that Foster takes you on that is absolutely brilliant. Her phenomenal yet understated descriptions lay everything out for you in a manner that you can’t help but picture. Everything comes into focus with vivid clarity.

My heart absolutely breaks for Molly yet I love how strong she is, even if she herself feels weak. Foster has brilliantly balanced a strong female lead against an uber-Alpha male to create a uniquely captivating couple to carry this story forward. These two characters are such well developed, intriguing characters that they could carry this story forward on their own, but Foster definitely doesn’t stop there. She continues with her supporting cast, each of whom is individually developed to suit their role and appearance in this novel (and the series as a whole). Never overshadowing the main characters, the supporting cast also doesn’t take a back seat. Rather, they get in a different car.

Overall? Dare is my new BBF! Not only do I want to continue reading more of Foster’s work, I’m dying to re-read this one because I just can’t get enough. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone.
