My Review:

What a novel! I felt like I’d walked into a fantasy right from the first page. Cooper creates this vivid world in a seamlessly captivating manner. Her descriptions paint it in your mind’s eye. As a reader you can feel the shifting of dark and light in the author’s writing. It heightens the sense of magic and surrealism that gives her readers a break from the monotony of the everyday. The characters in this novel are on the adventure of a lifetime, even if it is a dangerous one. I could feel the excitement and adrenaline. The fast pace of the story makes time fly by. I read it in a single sitting without realising it. I definitely couldn’t put this one down.

The characters in this novel lead us down a great many roads with some definite plot twists to keep you on your toes. Rather than simply having a main character or a main couple, there is a core group of characters that carries this story forward. Each is individually developed, but the group is also developed dynamically. It’s quite an intriguing balance that lets you get to know everyone in many different ways. Their interactions with one another not only let you get to know them, but also further the story itself.

Overall, this was a fantastic novel. Cooper’s writing is creative yet seamless. This novel definitely falls into the category of escape from the everyday. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants to escape from reality within the pages of a book, with some romance thrown in the mix.

My Review:

This is an intensely heartfelt novel. Cooper combines the supernatural with real emotions to create something beyond compare. This author paints a vivid picture of the world that she has created. As a reader you’re drawn in and have no desire to escape. It was so intriguing to see the prophecy intertwining with reality in this remarkable tale. It was breathtaking at times.

The characters in this novel were also uniquely developed. As a reader you get to know them as they get to know each other and themselves. The stark contrast between the personalities and beliefs of the various characters added to the aura of the tale. I also got really caught up in the writing style that Cooper uses for this tale. By writing this as a first person narrative Cooper gives you a direct link to the main character. I found myself thinking like him, and using his speech & thought patterns.

As a whole, Cooper takes the fantasy storyline and runs in the opposite direction to create a breathtaking work of art.

My Review:

Cooper’s novel is historically accurate while remaining approachable to modern day readers. The mixing of Celt & Norse mythology gives a very unique feel to this tale as well. The storyline is solidly put together and presented to the audience in an enchanting way that will leave you wanting to become part of the tale rather than simply read it. Cooper melds vivid battle scenes with heartfelt interactions to complete this.

Cooper’s characters are well developed, but in a very natural way. You don’t feel like you’ve read about them in a history textbook, but rather that they are individuals that you’ve met and interacted with. This goes for the main characters as well as the supporting cast.

This is the type of story that draws you in completely and doesn’t let you go. I was left with a sense of wonder and completeness while still wanting to continue on further with these phenomenal individuals.
