My Review:
I love how Winters dives right into this story. She doesn’t waste time telling her readers things they already know. She takes off with this new story from the first page, and kept me in her grip right until the very end. She does sneak a couple of reminders in to jog your memory about some key events in the past, but doesn’t double back and recap. She also combines different paranormal elements into a seamless whole. I found myself travelling through this tale alongside the main characters, able to visualize each and every scene. Winters also throws in a hint of spice to heat things up nicely.
The main characters in this novel were priceless. Watching them fight against and for things really allows you to get to know them intimately. The contrast between the two was intriguing, allowing for some intimate and exciting moments. I quite enjoyed the variety of character types (and species) we encounter in this novel. The supporting cast added a layer of darkness to the story. They also gave the reader a deeper look into the story and the world surrounding it.
Winters is definitely one of those authors who will stand the test of time. This novel was funny, suspenseful, and light-hearted. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it (and the series) to anyone who enjoys any type of fiction. I also won’t hesitate to read more of her work in the future.
