Dylan Caid, a troubled misfit whose secret just might hold the key to victory, finds himself thrust into the center of this ancient conflict. With both sides urging him to join with them and threatening death or worse should he not, Dylan must seek out an ancient force that even monsters fear.

My Review:

This story held my attention throughout. Allen has woven a story that is both intricate and one that sparks your imagination. I easily left the everyday behind, becoming lost in the world that appeared in the pages of this novel. The twists and turns throughout the novel kept me off balance, always trying to guess what would come next while also thoroughly enjoying the ride.

I really enjoyed how detailed Allen was in the development of her characters and creatures. I had a really good sense of not only who everyone was, but what they were as well. Dylan was the perfect centre point for the cast of this novel. Not only do we get to know him well, both in the past and present, but his personality and the decisions he`s faced with really make him stand out. His wise cracking snarkiness was fantastic.

This novel is wildly adventurous, melding fantasy with reality, good with evil, to create an unforgettable start to Allen`s series. It will be loved by teens and adults alike.
