My Review:
What a story! Castille has definitely knocked it out of the park with this one. Tensions and emotions run high as lives are held in the balance. Castille has created descriptions that pack a punch, creating an atmosphere that the reader can’t miss and adding a sense of foreboding. The plot held my attention as I got up close and personal with the characters.
Holt’s apparent abandonment by the Sinners and the head twist from Viper really made me feel for him. It gave a lot of context for everything that he’s going through. Naiya’s past hurts and present concerns made her a stunning counterpoint to Holt, yet her heart made her a pleasure to get to know. The supporting cast was also a blast. I loved revisiting the Sinners, and the contrast between them and the Jacks was striking.
This novel was fast paced and suspenseful. Castille kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others but I would recommend reading the rest of the series first for context.
