Back Cover Blurb:

Not much happens in sleepy Jefferson County, Tennessee. That is, until Yankee reporter Roxanne Ackerman’s car breaks down there on her way to Memphis, and she somehow winds up as a murder suspect! With no one to bail her out and the local judge on a fishing trip, Roxanne is surrendered into the custody of her ultra-conservative-yet-oh-so-sexy attorney, Malcolm B. Daniels IV for the weekend.

Malcolm is nearly engaged, running for U.S. Senate, and really does not need this gorgeous, wild woman in his life right now. He just has to show her a little Southern hospitality until Monday morning, when he gets the case dropped, and things will finally go back to normal.

But the more time they spend together, the more sparks fly between them. One weekend might just be all the time Roxanne needs to work her way into his heart and make his life exciting again. What if, when Monday comes, he doesn’t want to let her go?

My Review:

This novel is definitely one of a kind! I was absolutely in stitches through the entire first chapter of this novel. Louellen captured my heart and my attention with this and kept it throughout this uniquely original tale. The story that she shares with her readers is simultaneously down to earth and thought provoking, while also being completely unbelievable at times. And not unbelievable in a ‘that would never happen’ way, but rather in an ‘oh my goodness, can you just picture it’ type of situation. The plot is well developed and multifaceted, allowing readers to visit this small town and really get to know the players. Everything is developed in such a manner that I didn’t only enjoy this novel, but also can’t wait to read the sequel.

The real & realistic yet unique characters in this novel stand out without being completely out of the ordinary. Louellen writes about the type of people that you instinctively want to know, while at the same time making them the type that you wouldn’t necessarily encounter in your everyday life. The contrast (and clashing) of personality types makes you feel like you’re actually part of the story. The variety of dialects that can be felt through the dialogue really sets the characters apart.

This is definitely a well-developed, unique, intriguing, enjoyable read. Louellen takes her readers through the ups and downs of life in a comical manner, while at the same time giving us a dose of red hot romance that you won’t soon forget.
