Synopsis from Goodreads:

LOVE OR FAMILY LOYALTY?

Liberty Beckett was so used to watching longtime crush Deacon McCrea ride at her family's Reckless, Arizona, arena, she nearly forgot the handsome cowboy was an attorney. But it won't be hard to remember now that Deacon is representing her father in the legal battle dividing the Beckett clan and threatening the Easy Money Rodeo Arena.

This case is Deacon's chance to clear his name in Reckless. He didn't anticipate the powerful effect Liberty would have on him. Their attraction is undeniable…and a huge conflict of interest. To save his career and Liberty's relationship with her family, Deacon knows he needs to avoid Liberty. But what a man needs and what he wants are two very different things….

My Review:

McDavid’s in-depth development of the setting really draws you in. I could picture the rodeo arena. I could smell the bulls & broncs. Also, getting to know the town history really made me feel like part of the community, rather than just a bystander. I appreciated the accuracy in the equine and rodeo aspect of the story. McDavid defined some of the less common events, and made sure that all information given was accurate. She melded these truths into her complex and wildly unique story that kept me captivated throughout.

McDavid’s intricate character development leaves you with a sense that everyone is the victim, yet everyone is the bad guy. The complex relationships between the characters, both business and personal, really make you consider all aspects of the situations at hand. The relationship between the main characters is a rollercoaster that in turn made me laugh, cringe, & want to sit them in a room alone together so they have to talk. Their relationships with the family made things that much more interesting.

As a whole, this was a fantastic read that has me hooked on this new to me author. I can’t wait to return to Reckless with her.
