Synopsis from Goodreads:

Jay and Caitlin Farr have a good marriage, but they’re aiming for great. After three children and a decade and a half together, their once hot and heavy headboard banging action has dwindled to a low simmer. Caitlin blames an abusive past and an inability to let herself go. And Jay just can't seem to say what he means, or get Caitlin to listen to what he truly wants.

Will Jay open his heart to Caitlin? Will she be able to hear his heart’s desires, and by meeting them, meet her own?

While Anticipation is still written with the same colorful language, unapologetic tone, and page-turning storytelling, it is also Lexi's most romantic story yet, written for real people like you.

Adult-content rating: This book contains content considered unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.

My Review:

This is a very well written novel. Maxxwell’s in-your-face writing style keeps you on your toes and really highlights certain aspects of the novel. This author writes everyday scenes as well hot bedroom scenes with a flair rarely seen. She definitely doesn’t gloss over the finer points. I really enjoyed the development and change in the couple as they worked through their issues.

I quite enjoyed the main characters in this novel. They were developed in both the past and the present. The fact that Maxxwell took the time to develop them as individuals and as a couple made it quite easy to get to identify with them and get into the story alongside them. I appreciated seeing them doing what they should to honour their vows to the other while trying to remain true to their beliefs. It was also quite heart-warming to see them work together to become better and stronger as a couple.

This isn’t a love at first sight type novel, but rather a much more appealing ‘what happens after happily ever after.’ I definitely enjoyed it and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.
