My Review:

Kuhn’s very straightforward yet approachable writing style drew me in right from the get go. She made me laugh and cringe at the same time because I could picture exactly what was happening. Everything always seemed so natural, even if it was out of the ordinary. Kuhn’s amazing use of similes, metaphors, and descriptions brought this entire world to life. The physical formatting of this novel also adds to the intensity of the story. The reader is jumping quickly from page to page, right along with the forward progression of the novel. It’s a very unique feel.

This is a very personal story on the part of the characters. You feel like you know the main character as soon as she starts talking, which is when you first meet her. I feel like she’s a lifelong friend. I love how Kuhn flips perspectives between the two main characters. It keeps the reader completely entrenched in this inviting yet gripping tale. By the end, I was completely in love with both of the lead characters.

Even though this was an action packed novel Kuhn still managed to bring tears to my eyes. This was an awesome novel that combined so many different aspects of life and literature that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone. And to tell them to pick up the sequel, because I can’t wait to read it.

Title:  Mohawk Sunrise
Author:  N. Kuhn
Series:  Mohawk #2
Published:  August 26th 2012 by Amazon

Genre:  Romantic Suspense

Rating:  ★★★★

Synopsis from Goodreads:

This is a quick read that will keep you captivated throughout. It is intense and fast paced in a very natural and inviting manner. Kuhn keeps you in suspense while hoping that this brilliant couple will get together and then throws a huge and unexpected twist at you, but it definitely works with the story as a whole. You never feel like she’s throwing something at you out of left field.

Kuhn’s natural and personal writing style make you feel right at home within the pages of this novel. As a reader you feel yourself walking alongside the characters, helping them throughout their trials. You can visualise everything clearly. The intensity of the novel is transmitted to you, and you run a gamut of emotions while reading.

Kuhn flips perspectives in a way that really gets you into the heads of the 4 main characters. You get to know them much more intimately than if she’d done the same thing while writing in the 3rd person. You get to know some of the characters from the first novel much better in this instalment. The new characters that Kuhn introduces are also well developed and intriguing. They round out the cast very nicely.

Although this novel could have used another round with the editor, it didn’t detract too greatly from the story as a whole and definitely left me wanting more. I can’t wait to dive into the sequel and into other works by this intriguing author.

My Review:

With this 3rd novel in the series Kuhn jumps right back into the action, a little after where we’d left off in the 2nd story. She picks up with the same intense pace and natural writing style that we’ve come to know (and love) throughout this series so far. Kuhn writes in a way that allows you to walk through this world alongside her characters. I appreciate that Kuhn also takes the time to appreciate Native American culture (at least for the most part) while building this very captivating tale of love, loss, and triumph.

Kuhn introduces a large number of new characters in this instalment, each of whom play a key role in this novel. I quite appreciate the fact that she doesn’t create new characters simply to increase the size of her cast. Each and every person has a role to play. Some play a larger role than others, but everyone is necessary for this fully rounded tale to come to a head. It was also quite nice to more of the family histories in this instalment, allowing you to get to know some of the recurring characters better and filling in some of the background information on the storyline as a whole.

Overall, this was a quick but captivating tale that has a very natural flow to it. And as much as I personally may dislike cliffhangers, it’s nice to know we may see these characters back again.
