When a gorgeous man materializes in her living room, vampires start knocking on her door, and books literally start to glow, she soon realizes this dream was just the beginning of a nightmare.

Aryiah has been triggered to become one of The Witches, a coven charged with protecting the citizens of Ovialell with their magick and healing abilities. The only catch? In order to take her place with The Witches, Aryiah will have to die.

My Review:

I was very caught up in the uniqueness of this novel and the accurate mythological background that was found worked into this very unique tale. By the end of this novel I felt like I would have walked into the world that the author created and found my way around with little to no trouble. The dialogue in this novel fit well with the story and was never forced or drawn out. The characters spoke like real people. They also lived the lives of real individuals, highlighted with Thawer’s unique method of storytelling and her vivid and detailed descriptions.

The main characters were very unique and I found myself wanting to point them in the correct direction. I did enjoy the secondary characters, but a bit more background information on some of them would have made it easier to relate to them. Overall, the entire cast was so well developed that I knew each quite well. Some more intimately than others, but that’s the way relationships go in reality as well. I was able to connect with every character in the novel in some way or another. It was a unique experience.

This novel was an amazing read for anyone who enjoys romance, mythology, the paranormal, or just a plain unique read. My final thoughts? I cannot wait to read more from this series and would love to dip into other works by this author.
