Book Blurb:

When captured by the Nazis, Sarah finds herself in a concentration camp that not only brings her closer to death...but closer to love.

Sarah Brenner, a young Jewish woman, is terrified when she finds herself in the heat of a railcar bound for a work camp in Nazi Germany. For years she, along with her mother and sister, had hidden from the SS, but no one could hide forever. Her hatred for those who have enslaved them is ever-growing, especially when they arrive and she encounters the shockingly handsome Nazi doctor who can’t seem to keep his eyes—or hands—off her.

Aurel Rothstein is not your everyday concentration camp physician. The endless prisoners and lack of care he's allowed to give have made him numb to the work he so coveted. It isn’t until he comes face to face with a beautiful prisoner that his heart becomes involved with his job—a forbidden and fatal move to any Nazi.

When a vile soldier takes direct interest in Sarah, she will be forced to make a choice that will change her life forever: ignore the pull toward the handsome doctor or give in to the forbidden passion he awakens with only a look. Either way they both risk everything...

My Review:

This little novella really packs a punch. The storyline really impacts you and makes you think and appreciate what we have. It’s also a very emotional novella that’s wrapped up in a well written package.

The author approaches a very difficult time in history with tact and creates a uniquely captivating tale of love and loss. She leaves out the history behind the Holocaust, assuming that her audience knows the basics, thus allowing for time and space to draw out her storyline. She creates some very vivid scenes that still remain flowing and natural. You can picture everything clearly, but yet nothing is ever over the top.

The main character is fairly well developed considering that this is a novella. All details given were directly relevant to the situation in which she found herself. Her history was left to the imagination of the reader which allowed Martin to further her storyline rather than giving background that would essentially have been irrelevant to the story. The supporting cast is given just enough detail to make them seem like real people, but not so much as to overshadow the two main characters.

This was definitely a unique read that I would recommend to others. It is intense and exhilarating and makes you think like no other.

Guest Post:  Writing Habits

I always like to hear about other authors and their writing habits—like what they do before they write and hot often. So, today I thought I would share my personal habits.

1. I always have a full on conversation with my writing wizard, Gandeldore. Don’t look so surprised. He sits on my desk looking evil and spectacular and is always inspiring to talk to, even if he doesn’t always talk back ;-)

2. Now that you think I am writing this in my home, the psych ward, lol, you should also know that before I start writing for the day, I usually proof read the last couple of page I wrote the day before, just to make sure that my mind is in the same place I left it.

3. Lately I’ve been trying something new (and it has been SO successful). I am a procrastinator by nature. Putting things off is my forte. I’ve started writing every day now, writing even if I don’t feel particularly inspired. Why do I do this? Well, Stephen King spoke to me in his book On Writing with this quote—“Sometimes you have to go on when you don’t feel like it, and sometimes you’re doing good work when it feels like all you’re managing is to shovel shit from a sitting position.” –This is pretty how I felt all the time, but because of this I pushed through these negative feeling and I’ve now recently signed with Dragonfairy Press for a three book deal.

Hard work pays off! With all of this being said, I hope you will all check out my novella Forbidden Angel. Please leave a comment about your writing habits. I would love to hear them!

  3. This looks awesome. And Congrats on the three book deal! Well done, well done indeed.

I try and write everyday too. I have a goal of 2k, every day, on something from my virtual shelves. May be a current WIP, may be just editing/revising, etc, but I always try and make that #. Even if it's crap.

Sometimes you just have to give yourself permission to write crap. You can always edit later!

    1. Thank you Margaret! I absolutely agree with you. It's usually when I think I've written crap, that I end up doing my best writing. :) Thank you so much for checking out the post!
